Shakha team in Dallas executed the back-to-school outreach experiment (HSS + Sewa + HEF collaboration) today morning on the first day of the school.Reached out to 140 teachers from 2 schools in 1 school district with funding managed by the local shakha families. The cost of each bag was under $1.00 containing 3 snacks items + a small water bottle.Dallas Sewa team provided sanitizers and masks for school staff nurses.

On occasion of Raksha Bandhan, we recently conducted a community meeting with Sunnyvale Dept. of Public Safety. The 1 hour meeting meeting comprised of us giving an overview of HSS and our activities, Raksha Bandhan and its significance, Universal Oneness Day, followed by an engaging talk and Q&A with Officer Joseph Ochoa from Sunnyvale DPS. Our shakha Balas and Shishus had made Thank You cards for the Policemen and Firefighters and in the end they were shared with the Officer. He was really touched to see the heartfelt, innocent, cute

Today we HSS Alameda Team got an opportunity to meet Mayor of Oakland Libby Schaaf in her office. It was wonderful meeting her. She acknowledged the work that HSS has put forward in the Oakland area by offering us a proclamation(by herself). This was the first time we made a footprint in the Oakland area, which is mostly dominated by African American and Hispanic community. It was a little special for the HSS Alameda team as we were getting First proclamation from Oakland and most importantly, it was the first time on Universal Oneness "Raksha Bandhan '' day. In the Penn East Vibhag, HSS and Sewa partnered with 23 other organizations to form a tem working on Covid-19 Relief. A quick summary of our work can be found in this Infographic. As a part of this campaign, we made a donation of $4,000 to Methacton School District Education Foundation for supporting the backpack program.
